Beware: traps!Reputation traps

If your Reputation is lower than 3 you will be attacked by groups of three Flaming Fist Enforcers, a Flaming Fist Scout and a Flaming Fist Battle Wizard. The Flaming Fist will attack suddenly both on the streets and in the Three Old Kegs.

Talk to Bill the guard and show him your invitation. Enter the Duchal Palace AR0108. Regardless of your alignment it is best to present your invitations when stopped again by a guard. Cast protective spells including Haste and Remove Fear then enter the main room to the north. Reveal Sarevok Anchev as a scoundrel to the Dukes and several Greater Doppelgangers will reveal themselves. Kill them but ensure you protect the two Dukes at all costs! The dukes will want proof of Sarevok's mischief. If you have none they will kill you. If you produce evidence Sarevok will attack. Fight him until he is teleported away by Winski Perorate. Attacking the dukes will also result in instant death. Duke Belt will then teleport you to the Thieves' Guild in E Baldur's Gate so you can pursue Sarevok. If you want the treasures in the Palace don't forget to return here before embarking on the hunt for Sarevok!

Raid the bookcase, locked cabinet and locked chest. You cannot open the warded wardrobe.

Beware if you are visible, a Flaming Fist Mercenary in the office behind the stairs will hail you. He will attack you whatever you say. There are two Mercenaries guarding the treasure room. You can tell them you are inspectors and they will let you pass (as long as the Mercenary from the office hasn't alerted them). If you intend to visit this area stealth is a wise option unless you intend to lose Reputation.
